Unit 430 2017 Masterpoint Races After Three Of Four Open Sectionals

Re-compiled by McBruce after a day from the Spring Section evaporated

This is an updated list after an error was discovered. The files I got for the Spring Sectional included the gamefiles for four days and a tournament database through three days: when I recovered from four days in the sweltering conditions at Queenborough, I forgot to add the final day's masterpoints to the database. This has now been done and our Phil Wood leader has a total through three of four open Sectionals that would win the trophy in most years!

The three trophies listed here are:

The Phil Wood Trophy goes to the overall masterpoint leader in a calendar year, who wins free plays to all open sectionals in the next calendar year.
The Edie Bonnell Trophy goes to the masterpoint leader in a calendar year among female players, the winner receiving six free plays to open sectionals in the following calendar year.
The Phil Wood Under 200 Trophy goes to the player with the most masterpoints who began the yeaar under 200 masterpoints, the winner receiving six free plays to open sectionals in the following calendar year.

The Leo Steil Trophy goes to the overall masterpoint leader in a calendar year among players 65 or older. In my younger and crazier days I would actually ask the Phil Wood leaders and try to determine who was old enough. When enough people looked at me like I was some sort of degenerate I decided to stop doing that, and now we simply ask eligible players (born in 1951 or earlier for this year's contest) who are in contention to quietly claim the prize, which is six free plays for open sectionals in the following calendar year.
The Rocket Rookie Race tracks a number of Unit-run events and looks mostly for points won by non-Life Masters playing with other non-Life Masters. This race has events in it after the final sectional of the year, and it is far too hot to do the work I need to do now, so you'll see something probably at the November sectional on that one. The prize is (you guessed it) six free plays for the next calendar year at open sectionals.
The Monthly Unit Game Race goes to the player with the most masterpoints in Monthly Unit Games (usually the first Saturday of each month, 7pm at the VBC), the winner receiving free plays to all Unit Games in the following calendar year. In addition, there are separate races for Flight B (0-2500) and Flight C (0-1000), which have prizes of six free plays to Monthly Unit Games in the following year.

ALERT: to be eligible to win a prize for any race (including the Unit ones mentioned here, and the ACBL-wide ones some of us track every night...) you need to be a paid up member of the ACBL by the time the race ends. (We're OK if you joined mid-year.) However, for year-long races with a masterpoint limit, what counts is how many you had at the start of the year.
